The Mayo Clinic Diet

The Mayo Clinic has been around for approximately 30 years now and the word that there is a particular diet plan that they offer, the so-called “Mayo Clinic Diet”, has been surfacing in a number of different forms and in a great variety of places.

It has been said that this diet plan often promises that you can lose up to 50 pounds in just a few months. Yet the Clinic says that there is no official miracle diet which they have proposed nor will there ever be one. The Mayo Clinic dieticians, and nutritionists in fact are trying to say that the various versions of the diets like pushing grapefruits or eggs or meats in order to shed pound quickly and magically and hence should not be bought into.

All of these diets promote quick weight loss, yet they are far from being a nutritionally safe method of losing weight on a long-term basis. Since there is no one official diet that works for everyone,
the diets that are approved by the Mayo Clinic dietitians are individualized to accommodate the needs of each of their patients, after taking into account the current eating and exercise habits and well as certain medical problems that individual may have had.
